Privacy policy

What we collect, why we collect it, and how to get rid of it. Written plainly, because a privacy policy nobody can read protects nobody.

The short version

You can use every tool on this site without giving us anything. Results appear on the page. We only ask for your details in two places: when you want a generated document sent to you as a file, and when you inquire about a website. We do not sell or share your details with anyone for marketing.

What we collect

Nothing, for most visits. Using a calculator or reading a page does not require an account and does not create a record about you.

When you download a document: your email address, and your name if you give it. We also record which tool it came from and which format you chose.

When you inquire about a website: your name, email, and anything else you type in — phone number, business name, trade, current website, and your message. We also record which page you sent it from.

Your IP address, briefly and in memory only, to stop one person hammering the tools and running up costs. It is not stored in a database and is not linked to anything else about you.

What the AI tools do with what you type

Some tools — the document and email generators — send what you type to an external AI provider to produce the text. At the time of writing that provider is OpenAI.

This matters, so read it twice: do not paste anything into those tools that you would not be comfortable sending to a third-party company. Real customer names, addresses, account numbers or anything confidential should be left out — put a placeholder in and substitute the real detail afterwards in your own document.

We do not store what you type into a generator. It is sent, the result comes back, and we keep neither.

Why we hold it

  • To send you the file you asked for, and to know which tool it came from
  • To reply to an inquiry about a website
  • To send you occasional tips, only if you ticked the box
  • To stop abuse of the tools

Downloading a document is not consent to marketing. The newsletter box is separate, never pre-ticked, and we record when you ticked it.

Who else sees it

  • Supabase — our database provider, where inquiries and email addresses are stored
  • OpenAI — receives what you type into an AI generator, as described above
  • Our hosting provider — serves the site

That is the whole list. We do not sell your details, we do not share them with advertisers, and we do not pass them to other trade businesses.

How long we keep it

Inquiries are kept while we are dealing with them and for a reasonable period afterwards for our own records. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. If you unsubscribe we keep a record that you did, so we do not accidentally email you again.

What you can ask for

Depending on where you live you may have the right to see what we hold, correct it, or have it deleted. We will do any of those on request regardless of where you live, because it is simpler than checking.

To unsubscribe from the newsletter, use the link in any email or the unsubscribe page. To ask for anything else, reply to any email you have had from us.

Cookies

The site sets no tracking or advertising cookies. If we add advertising later, this policy will be updated first and you will see it here before it happens.
