The visit that gets wasted

A technician arrives, the side gate is locked, nobody is home over eighteen, and half the cupboards are still full. The visit is either abandoned or done badly, and either way somebody is paying for a truck roll that achieved nothing.

Almost all of that is preventable with a checklist sent when the appointment is booked, and again the day before. The problem is rarely that customers refuse — it is that nobody told them clearly, in writing, in time to do it.

Access is the part people forget

Furniture and cupboard clearing gets most of the attention, but access is what actually costs you the visit. A cupboard that is not empty slows a job down; a locked gate ends it.

  • Who needs to be home, and whether they need to be over eighteen
  • Gates, garages, basements and attics that need unlocking
  • Somewhere to park close enough to carry equipment
  • Keys, codes or fobs for shared entrances
  • Dogs contained, and where

What this checklist deliberately leaves out

It covers logistics only — moving, clearing, unlocking, containing pets during the visit. It will not tell a customer how long to stay out of the property, how long to ventilate, or what precautions to take, and it refuses if you ask it to.

Those instructions come from the product label, which is legally binding and specific to what is actually applied on the day. A generic checklist that guessed at re-entry times could contradict the label your technician is working to, and the label is the law. Your technician gives those instructions on site, where they know what they used.
